Godstow sits on the Thames north-west of Oxford, where the ruins of Godstow Abbey stand across the water from the Trout Inn and the river runs down into the northern end of Port Meadow. It is a landmark rather than a suburb — the houses here are the properties strung along Godstow Road and the lane down to the lock, backing onto Wolvercote and the meadow.
